who do you admire?

Are you having a hard time connecting with your authentic Self?

Struggling to sort through what feels authentic and what the world has told you?

I have an easy exercise that will help you clarify what is true to you and what has been imposed on you.

Take a look at the people you admire the most.

  • What qualities do they have in common?
  • Why do these individuals make the list?
  • What is it about them that makes you admire them?
  • When you think of them, what lights you up or makes you feel excited?

The answers to these questions, or one similar, will give you insight into your authentic Self.

You are attracted to and admire these qualities because they exist within you. You may or may not be expressing these qualities, which is why you admire the individuals who are. Or, you are using the qualities and seeing them operate from the same frequency of energy, which inspires and excites you to continue the path you are on.

The individuals on my list are creative, risk-takers, multifaceted (i.e., doing multiple things), inspirers, leaders, builders, optimistic, spiritual (in their own different ways), authentic, and comfortable in their own skin.

Understanding this helps me as I continue on the Pursuit of my authentic life.

Note: Remember, your authentic life is an evolution.

Notice when the individuals you admire begin to change and take note of whether or not you are evolving with them. There are people I used to admire (and still do) who no longer inspire or motivate me like they used to, which makes sense because I’m not the same person I was when I admired them in a greater way. This is neither good of bad, it’s just part of the process. Try to avoid holding on to those old sources of inspiration because it can prevent you from fully expressing your authentic Self.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

On Dr. David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness, fear is towards the bottom of the chart. It is described as an emotional state of anxiety and a frightened view of life. This hardly sounds like a state of being from which you would want to operate, but many of us cannot escape fear in our lives. Even those of us who tend to tilt toward the higher levels of consciousness still fall victim to operating from a place of fear in some aspects of our lives. Sometimes fear can be reasonable or even...

"We’re on this planet for too short a time. And at the end of the day, what’s more important? Knowing that a few meaningless figures balanced–or knowing that you were the person you wanted to be?" - Sophie Kinsella (h/t to my friend Michael for having this quote in his email signature.) Align your spirit, mind, body, and money, and see how the figures balance in the way they need to for you AND you get to be the person you wanted to be. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.” - Robert Louis Stevenson Getting caught up in the desire to make immediate progress and see results ASAP is easy. When it comes to moving towards your authentic Self and evolving with your authentic life, focus on being the most authentic version of your Self each day. We often get attached to the vision of our future Self and expect to be that today, which frequently leads to frustration, disappointment, or the...
