blinders

Yesterday, I was talking with a friend, discussing the momentum from 2025 and my current embodiment, and sharing my vision for the end of 2026; towards the end of our conversation, she asked me what could get in the way of everything coming to fruition this year.

I sat for a moment.

The answer came to me loud and clear.

“My Self.”

The only way my vision board for the year doesn’t become my reality is if I get in the way.

Allowing my Self to fall out of alignment.
Allowing my Self to get distracted by comparing with others.
Allowing my Self to get impatient.
Allowing my Self to think I have more control over the end destination than I do.

That’s it.

My friend then issued a challenge…

“Put on blinders.”

Put blinders on, focus on the activities that align with the vision I shared with her, and don’t pay attention to anything that falls outside of the blinders.

For some reason, hearing her say “blinders” triggered something within me, in a good way.

I’ve thought about this before– I’ve even told my Self that I’d eliminate all distractions for a year and see what happens, but I’ve never actually done it. The main reason for not keeping blinders on in the past is the fear of being forgotten and the impact on my business.

One of the biggest sources of distraction tends to be social media platforms; thankfully, it hasn’t been a negative on my consciousness, as I don’t spend time doomscrolling. But I think about and spend more time on the platforms because they have helped me grow my business, introduced me to my heroes and closest friends in this stage of life, and helped me discover the Creative living within.

If wearing blinders keeps me off the platforms, will future clients find me?

Now that I’ve found my “thing”, the Authentic Life, if I’m not on the platforms, will I have the reach I believe the Authentic Life needs and deserves?

Will I be forgotten?

So silly.

Now, with blinders on, I get to test and prove to my Self (and you) that when living your Authentic Life, using your unique gifts and talents, and following your passions, everything will work out and will most likely work out in a way better than we could’ve imagined.

I think there is a time to keep blinders off to give your Self the opportunity to explore, experiment, and connect with your Authentic Self. But, once you find it and understand your purpose, I challenge you to join me and put blinders on, put your head down, and do the work aligned with your Authentic Life.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

“The search for meaning is only valid if you’re willing to take action with what you find.” - Paul Rosolie I’ve recently gone down the Paul Rosolie rabbit hole thanks to his recent podcast appearances on Modern Wisdom and The Diary of a CEO. If you haven’t heard of Paul before, I highly recommend checking out one of the episodes, and I’m going to recommend his new book even though my copy hasn’t even arrived yet. Yesterday, I received a prototype of a t-shirt I want to make for the PRST brand, which sparked a cool back-and-forth with a friend on LinkedIn. The shirt, still in development mode since I don’t like the style of t-shirt it was printed on, was inspired by a shirt from the brand 247. 247 is the athletic-wear division of the Represent brand, and in many of the vlogs on the Represent and its co-founder George Heaton’s YouTube channels, you will see a black t-shirt with small holes and tears...

“The truth really can make us free once we realize that much of what we believe, especially about ourselves, is not necessarily the truth. Struggle to become aware of what you believe about yourself, others, and the world around you. Ask yourself, “Is this really true, or could it be an illusion or life?” If your beliefs are limiting your options in life by keeping you in bondage, they probably do not represent the truth. When you know the truth about who you really are, you may indeed be...
