Yesterday, I received a prototype of a t-shirt I want to make for the PRST brand, which sparked a cool back-and-forth with a friend on LinkedIn. The shirt, still in development mode since I don’t like the style of t-shirt it was printed on, was inspired by a shirt from the brand 247. 247 is the athletic-wear division of the Represent brand, and in many of the vlogs on the Represent and its co-founder George Heaton’s YouTube channels, you will see a black t-shirt with small holes and tears that reads “On a Mission.” I remember the first time I saw the shirt, I immediately swapped Mission with Pursuit so my version of the shirt would say “On a Pursuit.” When I shared a picture of the shirt on LinkedIn, a friend proposed that I could have had it say “On the Pursuit” because we’re always evolving, and the ‘a’ made it seem as if I was talking about a singular Pursuit. He’s not wrong. “The” Pursuit could be the endless pursuit of living and evolving with the Authentic Life–using “the” addresses a specific Pursuit out of many Pursuits we might be on. But, I like the idea of keeping it to a singular Pursuit, the ‘a’ suggests, because as I think about it, there is one Pursuit that can encompass all of our smaller Pursuits. The Pursuit of living our Authentic Life is singular Pursuit we should focus on because within it all other Pursuits are covered. The Pursuit of your Authentic Life includes your Pursuit of a happier version of your Self. So we really are on one singular Pursuit–On a Pursuit. I didn’t give it much thought when I originally was inspired by the 247 shirt, but On a Pursuit is the “right” version for my shirt as well. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
“The truth really can make us free once we realize that much of what we believe, especially about ourselves, is not necessarily the truth. Struggle to become aware of what you believe about yourself, others, and the world around you. Ask yourself, “Is this really true, or could it be an illusion or life?” If your beliefs are limiting your options in life by keeping you in bondage, they probably do not represent the truth. When you know the truth about who you really are, you may indeed be...
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been aware of my thoughts and reluctant to allow them to stay negative for long. I’m convinced that my ability to redirect my energy has kept minor inconveniences from expanding into something much bigger and more painful. Take, for example, a backed-up toilet in our basement this weekend. Sunday afternoon, I went downstairs to get a workout in, stopped in the bathroom for some strange reason (I didn’t need to use the bathroom), and noticed that the...
