who you become might be your purpose

“Sometimes your purpose in this world is not something you do, but someone you become.”
- Brianna Wiest

A friend shared this quote in a community I'm part of, and it jumped out at me. It made me think about whether I talk enough about how the path to your Authentic Life can be found in who you evolve into.

I think I present the idea that we need to go internal, rather than looking external, when we are trying to discover our Authentic Self and align with our Authentic Life, but I’m not certain I’ve been as explicit as Brianna in that the purpose we seek can be found in who we are.

As I thought about the quote, I expanded on it, realizing that if your path to purpose is found within you, not in what you do, eventually what you do because of who you have become will become your purpose.

I am an example of this.
I have evolved.
Because of the evolution, I discovered the Authentic Life.

My work with the Authentic Life, in all aspects, has become my professional purpose–I have a different personal purpose.

If you’re struggling to connect with your Authentic Life with what you do, try focusing on who you are becoming.

And then just be and follow what comes next.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

I hope you had a great weekend! As you know, a couple of weeks ago, I was in Arizona for a retreat to kick off the Integrated Wealth Advisor certificate program I am participating in over the next eight months. I planned on writing more about the retreat, and I may still, but I just wanted to share a little insight from this week's first day of class. The level of excitement and energy I felt during class confirmed that the IWA is exactly what I am supposed to be doing this year with my time...

Social media continues to show me why I am less and less drawn to spend time on it–I’m working up the courage to bail on it, with the exception of using it to distribute content and document life on IG for my Self. I saw a post saying that J. Cole is the most performative hip-hop artist, trying to convince everyone that he is humble. SMH. For those not familiar with why someone would post this, J. Cole, who happens to be 1.b in my favorite artists (with 1.a Kendrick Lamar), just released his...

I love the Olympics; I prefer the Summer Olympics, but I’ll still watch the Winter Olympics, and I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of days because of an individual who has quickly become the star of the show. I think it’s safe to say that star Alysa Liu. Coming into the Winter Olympics, Alysa’s story of stepping away from skating due to burnout and a lack of enjoyment in Beijing was well documented. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t following the ice skating world between the Olympics, so I...
