What do you have to lose? Seriously, the thing you’ve been thinking about, planning for, and procrastinating on, what do you have to lose by actually doing it? Probably very little. Maybe a little time. Maybe a little money. Maybe a little ego or pride. But you have so much to gain. Maybe a little knowledge. Maybe some new experiences. Maybe a brand new path towards your authentic life. It’s not easy for everyone to take that “risk” to try something new, and it wasn’t always easy for me. But the more I explored my curiosity, pursued my passions, and tried the things I wanted to try, the easier it became. Now I can quickly determine whether something is worth trying, do it, and learn if it’s meant to be more in my life or just another learning experience. The time spent was enjoyed. The money, which is usually little, was an investment in me. The ego didn’t take a hit because I wasn’t doing it for anyone other than my Self. Usually, the first step towards doing that thing you’ve been thinking about is minor–it’s a step in a new direction to experience a different version of your Self. It’s not until you get further down that path that you come to the bigger investments of time and money. If you reach this point, then it’s time to carefully analyze and plan to see if a larger commitment is warranted. But, you won’t get to this point immediately, so don’t let it keep you from exploring. If you’re like me, many of your explorations will be short-lived, minimal investments of time and money, and extremely valuable in the lessons learned. So take the first step towards actually doing the thing you’ve been thinking about, planning for, and procrastinating on. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
Last week, I submitted my chapter for the second edition of More Than Money, a book that the community for financial advisors I co-founded (The AGC™) first wrote a couple of years ago. My chapter is in the section that addresses how money can help us achieve our dreams. I chose to share my client's story because it highlights a journey where the ultimate dream he and his family are pursuing could not have been known without first experiencing the career and life he has had up until the last...
I hope you had a great week! This was a busy week of video production and rather than ration them out over this week and next week's Note, I thought I'd share them all. First, the replay of "you", the fourth talk in the Keep Pursuing Series. Next, the video for the song based on the Keep Pursuing Series talk, "aligned." Aligned Finally, the video for the song based on the Keep Pursuing Series talk, "unique gifts." Unique Gifts These music videos are outside my comfort zone; I think I'll feel...
Be sure to allow your Self time to be “off.” Whether you’re excited about the progress you are making towards your authentic life or you’re still caught up in the allure of today’s “hustle culture”, taking some time to do nothing, moving you towards your authentic life is healthy. It’s actually important. Whatever you do when you’re “off” is most likely something your authentic Self enjoys, keeping you aligned with the work you’ve been doing. I started reading a book for pleasure last night....
