you don't always have to be "on"

Be sure to allow your Self time to be “off.”

Whether you’re excited about the progress you are making towards your authentic life or you’re still caught up in the allure of today’s “hustle culture”, taking some time to do nothing, moving you towards your authentic life is healthy.

It’s actually important.

Whatever you do when you’re “off” is most likely something your authentic Self enjoys, keeping you aligned with the work you’ve been doing.

I started reading a book for pleasure last night. It has nothing to do with spirit, mind, body, money, creativity, or my research for the authentic life. It’s called Project Hail Mary, and it’s about a school teacher who finds his Self in space, unsure of how he got there.

This morning, I made the connection back to my childhood and how I loved reading science fiction books–I read every Michael Crichton book I could get my hands on in middle school. I also realized the last time I read a book for enjoyment was a couple of years ago when I read Dark Matter in a day–another science fiction book.

Instead of trying to make a little more progress last night, I just read for pleasure and quickly found my Self sucked into the book.

We don’t always have to be “on”.

When we allow our Self to switch to “off,” we get a chance to recover, relax, and tap into parts of our authentic Self that we may not access very often.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

Last week, I submitted my chapter for the second edition of More Than Money, a book that the community for financial advisors I co-founded (The AGC™) first wrote a couple of years ago. My chapter is in the section that addresses how money can help us achieve our dreams. I chose to share my client's story because it highlights a journey where the ultimate dream he and his family are pursuing could not have been known without first experiencing the career and life he has had up until the last...

I hope you had a great week! This was a busy week of video production and rather than ration them out over this week and next week's Note, I thought I'd share them all. First, the replay of "you", the fourth talk in the Keep Pursuing Series. Next, the video for the song based on the Keep Pursuing Series talk, "aligned." Aligned Finally, the video for the song based on the Keep Pursuing Series talk, "unique gifts." Unique Gifts These music videos are outside my comfort zone; I think I'll feel...

“You have to say no to protect the better opportunities.” - Rich Roll Something I need to get better at. If it’s time to embrace this understanding, you felt it when you read Rich’s words. If you’re still in the phase where you need to say yes to everything, I hope you remember this so you can understand it earlier and make the mindset switch before you waste too much time and miss better opportunities. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC
