“Or is it your reputation that’s bothering you? But look at how soon we’re all forgotten. The abyss of endless time that swallows it all. The emptiness of those applauding hands. The people who praise us; how capricious they are, how arbitrary. And the tiny region it takes place. The whole earth a point in space – and most of it uninhabited.”
-Marcus Aurelius It’s humbling to think about how quickly we will be forgotten when we are no longer here; hopefully, the memories of us will last a couple of generations–maybe a little longer for those who have documented their thoughts and ideas on blogs, videos, and podcasts, but even those have a lifespan that will not be forever. There are a couple of ways we can interpret this fact. The first is to be saddened by it. The second is to be inspired by it – inspired to live the life you want to live, without worrying about trying to please others by being someone you are not. If the memory of your life is only going to last a couple of generations, you might as well make it for being the authentic version of your Self and not pretending to be someone else. I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the energy you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.” - Albert Einstein This goes against what we’re taught. It seems unbelievable and impossible. If you’re not happy with the life you are experiencing…try changing your energy (your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs) to match the life you want to have. What do you have to lose? The worst-case...
“Here’s my point: the solution to an overbusy life is not more time. It’s to slow down and simplify our lives around what really matters.” -John Mark Comer, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry This past Monday, I had a morning call get rescheduled, which allowed me to ease into the day. Instead of rushing from school drop off to the gym to the office and into meetings, I had nothing on my calendar until the afternoon. I recalled an experience earlier this year where I walked to my local coffee...
Little did I know on December 30th, 2022, that I was writing the first of 1,000 (and soon to be more) Daily Notes. I didn’t set out to start a consistent writing practice. I had no expectations. And if I’m being honest, I probably didn’t expect to keep writing beyond a month or two. But here I am, writing the 1,000 Daily Note since that trip to Marco Island, with only three missed days. Except for waking up each day, these Daily Notes have been the most consistent thing I’ve ever done. The...
