the Weekly Note Vol. 112

Well, it's been a minute...I know.

The last month of summer was extremely busy with a couple of trips to South Carolina for AAU, our family trip to New Buffalo, Michigan, and then getting ready for back to school--Indiana loves to start school early, and our boys started on the 5th.

I didn't forget about the Weekly Note during July, but I did prioritize other areas of life for the month--I chose late-night swims, long days of driving after a morning game, and morning walks. I hope you don't mind or hold it against me. Every Sunday night when I lay down to bed, I felt bad that I hadn't prepped the week's Weekly Note, but I was content that I had made the right decision to soak in the summer before it was over.

Plus, I knew once school started back up, travel would decline (we still have some weekend trips for soccer ahead of us, and I head to Sedona next week) and most importantly, we'd all be back on a routine.

And it wasn't just the Weekly Note that took a short break; it has also been The Five, which I'm itching to get back to. For the same reasons as above, in addition to launching a short speaker series called Mindful Mondays, I had to pause the Monday show. I also chose to have Silas join me for an episode of the AlignedLife podcast on a Monday.

I'm hoping to bring the show back beginning next week and record with the beautiful backdrop of Sedona, but that will depend on the internet and the work/activity schedule we have planned.

As I prepared to write this, I reflected on the pause in Weekly Notes and The Five, and I couldn't help but admire the Rich Rolls and Chris Williamsons of the world who never miss--they are always dropping new episodes on the same day(s) each week. I had to remind my Self that their podcast is their primary job--it is what pays the bills, and I can't compare my Self with them because right now, my creating is passion first. Sure, it leads to new clients and opportunities, but it is not the priority.

The priorities fall in this order:

Self (spirit, mind, body---all of it)
Family
Clients
Creating

Unfortunately, but totally acceptable for me right now, where creating falls on the list of priorities will lead to periods of time where I'm inconsistent with publishing — whether it be the AlignedLife podcast, The Weekly Note, an AlignedLife blog post, or additional content. There will come a day when creating will be able to move up the list in priority, but for now I hope you understand there might be times when I have to miss a publishing.

I've wrestled with the thought that creating can't move up the list of priorities if I don't make it a higher priority, but at this time in my life — this Authentic Version of my Self — I'm ok with how things are. The reality is the order of priorities probably won't change, but the amount of time in each will. For example, Family will always be in the second spot, but as the boys get older, the amount of time spent on that priority will be less, and I can allocate that time to other priorities.

So just a little insight into where I've been and why your inbox has hopefully missed me. I missed showing up each week for you, but I am so glad I listened to my heart and soaked up the last few weekends of summer break.

Ok, let's get to this week's Notes...

📝 Omens

Fear Of Success "If you find your Self pursuing a new version of yourself and recognize that fear is beginning to creep in, slowing your momentum, be sure it’s not the fear of becoming this new version of your Self. If you are only looking for the fear of failure, you might miss the fear of success that is holding you back."

📺 Catching You Up On Mindful Mondays

This series of talks might have been created for Roman, Leo, and their friends, but it applies to all of us--this is one of the reasons I wanted to share this information with them. I know it'll help them in life, not just their athletics.

Next week I'll be back with some of the great curated content I've been saving, but I wanted to share the Mindful Monday series with you in case you happen to have any athletes in your life, or you want to reflect on your own mindset and mindfulness practice. Of all of the speaking events I've created, this series has by far had the most impact on the attendees and viewers/listeners. I know because I see the boys taking notes, and their parents have all shared how much they enjoyed it and even shared with their parents what we've discussed.

It's funny how the series I created with no expectations of anything coming from it happens to be the best one I've done and has made the most impact.

Just a Reminder...

The AlignedLife Community

We've been spending a lot of time planning the AlignedLife Community, and I wanted to share one of the ideas we're running with for the beginning of the New Year--I've gotten a lot of great feedback as I've shared it with people.

In January, when the community reopens after the Founding Member period in Q4, we will be doing Julia Cameron's 12-week creative program to reconnect with our inner Creators. I've never made it all the way through the 12 weeks, so I'm excited to do it alongside others.

I'm really proud of the foundation we are building for the AlignedLife Community and the intention behind it all--a past version of my Self would have already launched the community, and it would have suffered without the thoughtful planning we've been doing.

I'll be sharing more as we get closer to the Founding Member opening that will begin October 1st--we'll have a couple of Zoom Q&A sessions, I'll record some videos, and Ang and I are going to record a podcast episode to share more of the vision and the why.

If you're interested in learning more and staying up to date on all the details, you can reply to this email or visit the website to sign up for email updates.

See you next week (or tomorrow) and keep pursuing,

JC

“Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” -William Wallace (quote from Braveheart—not proven he really said it). You may have also heard Drake say something similar in the song Moment 4 Life, “Everybody dies, but not everyone lives.” Two different mediums—one movie, one song. Two different time periods—one a long, long time ago, one modern. Same important message. Just because you are alive today doesn’t mean you are actually living life. Don’t waste this awesome gift you’ve been given...

If the something is misaligned with your Authentic Life, you’ll experience disappointment, frustration, and discontentment that you didn’t receive what you had hoped for, Most people...

I met with a client I’ve been working with for almost a year, and we reflected on the success we've both been having. I reminded him that I came into 2026 saying (and believing) that anyone close to me was going to have a great year—I came into the year riding a powerful wave, and I felt that anyone on that wave with me was going to have a great year too. And this has been true—not just him, but the other clients I’ve been coaching, my closest friends, even clients I’ve been working with for...
