I hope you had a great weekend! If you read the Daily Notes over the last couple of weeks, you know I shared that my body was telling me to rest, and I know when my body tells me that a wave of creativity, momentum, and growth is coming in all areas of my life. Well, the creativity is back full force. For example, last week, between Roman's basketball games, one of his teammates joked with me about another friend wanting to meditate with me. I know Roman and Leo's friends are paying attention to the content I share, at least on Instagram. I see them in my Stories, and they are clicking through all of them--I don't know if they ever click to actually read or watch what I'm sharing, but they are DEFINITELY getting the Authentic Life and the alignment of spirit, mind, body, and money dripped on them. It took all of five minutes from the moment the meditation comment was made to the moment I had the idea of doing a series of talks at our house for Romand and Leo's friends and teammates about mindfulness. It then took about two hours, which included watching a game, to come up with the series of conversations I'm going to have at our house. Mindset I'm going to provide dinner. Host a conversation and introduce them to ideas, concepts, and practices I know will not only help their athletic goals, but also help them in life. I'm going to cover many things I know now that I wish I'd known when I was their age. I'm stoked for these five talks, and although it won't be a cheap endeavor, I couldn't be happier to invest money into the future of my boys and their friends. I even have a vision for this to become a monthly event with a growing audience, where we continue to explore the power of the mind. We'll see — I have no attachment to that vision, although I can really see it happening. But for now, July 13th will be the first talk. I've designed and ordered the T-shirts. One of my financial goals for my Authentic Life is to be more charitable, which doesn't always manifest in making donations to organizations. In the case of Mindful Mondays, it manifests in providing a memorable and impactful experience that will make teenage boys want to come back for more--with no financial benefit to me. I also made a ton of progress with Ang in the AlignedLife Community, but I'll save that for next week's intro--I've got too much to share with you in the rest of this week's Note. If you want to learn more about the AlignedLife Community, you can visit the website and sign up for updates. This week, one thread ran through every pillar before we went looking for it: what you're holding too tight. In Spirit, new research across 22 countries confirms what the theologians and the neuroscientists are finally agreeing on — forgiveness isn't a gift you give someone else, it's a weight you put down yourself. In Mind, we look at what it actually means that the average on-screen attention span is now 47 seconds — not just for productivity, but for your capacity to think, to believe, to know what you actually want. In Body, we get into VO2 max and the dementia data, and why your cardiovascular fitness right now is a record of everything you've done with your body for years — not a summary of last week. In Money, we make the case that your bank statement is a self-portrait — and most of us haven't looked at it that way. And in Creativity, we look at what the research says about boredom: that the empty hour isn't nothing. It's where your thinking actually happens. Five pillars. Five conversations. This is The Five. 📝 OmensBring Back The Blog Era "Back then, blogs weren’t so focused on generating revenue as the primary goal. Sure, people were placing ads on their pages, sharing their products, and using it as a way for potential customers and clients to find them. But in peak blog era, they were outlets for expressing creativity, sharing ideas, thinking and processing out loud, and finding your people." 📺 The Authentic Life On Other Shows and What I've Been ConsumingFrom time to time, I listen to a conversation, and all I can hear is other people talking about the Authentic Life. I had to share both of these this week to make sure they weren't missed. … won’t get you there. This is one of my favorite phrases right now, especially when talking to my oldest, Roman, about his goals. I’m trying to get him to realize that while he has achieved a lot in his almost 16 years on this earth, he has some very ambitious goals that he has not currently met, and he shouldn’t have, honestly. The goal I recite “what got you here won’t get you there” about the most is his goal of playing college basketball. Going into his sophomore year, he’s done a great...
