Yesterday’s missed Note was not intentional. I was reminded of just how reliant we are on technology, specifically the internet. We were without internet for most of the day, which kept me from doing much of the work I needed to, including writing a Daily Note. Once our service came back, I prioritized a new show on the AlignedLife podcast that I was really excited to get out yesterday—I needed to download, edit, upload, write copy, and post the episode on my website; it’s a lot of work turning around an episode in one day, but I love it. You might be wondering what this has to do with “perfect is the enemy of great.” The quote, which I love, was something I reminded my Self when I came up with the idea of The Five, especially yesterday when I sat down to record. For the last couple of years, I’ve wanted to have a weekly show on my podcast that isn’t an interview episode but one that covers current events. I wasn’t sure what exactly the show would look like, but I knew I didn’t want it to be another weekly breakdown of the economy and the stock market. While those are events I’m paying attention to and following, talking about them each week didn’t excite me; there are plenty of those shows out there, and it didn’t really fall into the ecosystem of the Authentic Life. So I just let the idea marinate. The call for a weekly show returned this month, and in a strong way. So I spent some time thinking about how I could show up weekly, provide value, maybe a little entertainment, and continue to help you in your Pursuit of your Authentic Life. The Muse paid a visit. Spirit. Mind. Body. Money. Creativity. Each week, I could discuss current events or content I come across that addresses each pillar. Five Pillars = The Five I’m collaborating with Claude to source news, articles, and content aligned with the five pillars in addition to anything I come across my Self. And each Monday (well, Wednesday this week) at 5:00 EST, I’ll be dropping a new episode on YouTube and the podcast players—eventually this WILL be a live show. I’ll have a production team, and it’ll look like a TV show. But for now, this is where perfect is the enemy of great. I’m just focusing on consistently showing up and doing a good job. I hate that the first episode has no B-roll. I hate that there aren’t any graphics. I hate that it was just edited in iMovie. I’ve been creating content for nearly 10 years, so I’m beyond the “just hit publish” phase, but if I waited until I had all of those things, I’m not sure when this first episode of The Five would have been recorded. So, I just hit record and publish. And despite all that I “hate” about this first episode, I LOVE this first episode. I can grow into all of the cool production stuff that I can see in my mind. I can grow into a live broadcast. But for now, I’ll focus on showing up each Monday at 5:00 EST and letting the show find its voice, style, and vibe. The Five is hardly perfect, but I think it’s great if I say so my Self. Check out the first episode here ListenSpotify See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
“Manifesting isn’t just about visualizing what you want and waiting for it to happen. It’s about being clear on your why, cultivating self-worth, aligning your behaviour with the person you want to become, stepping outside your comfort zones, developing an attitude of gratitude, growing through challenges, and trusting in the Universe so that you can surrender to the journey.” -Roxie Nafousi I know the word "manifestation” makes many people uncomfortable. I often cringe when I see someone on...
“You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.” - Toni Morrison A nice continuation of yesterday’s Note about changing the inputs if you aren’t happy with your outputs. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC
Hope you had a great week. This weekend was full of sports--2 soccer matches for Leo, 1 for Silas, and 4 basketball games for Roman, which didn't leave much time for weekend creating.
