Yesterday, I spent the day glued to my computer for the first two days of the Kinder Seven Stages of Money Maturity class—the final class before I can add Registered Life Planner® to my credentials. This class is usually the first class people take when they enter the Registered Life Planner program, but since my initial plan was just to do the EVOKE training class (last year) and not pursue the designation, I skipped Seven Stages of Money Maturity. I’d read the book years ago and thought I was most interested in just the experience of EVOKE, but after the second day of EVOKE, I knew I was all in on the RLP® designation. In class yesterday, multiple financial advisors shared that they were in the process of starting their own firms. While I didn’t get to talk to each of them, I felt nothing but excitement about the risks they were taking and the challenges in building a company. I’m willing to bet their excitement for their new endeavor was tied to an understanding that they are moving in the right direction—they are pursuing their authentic life, which happens to include launching their own firm to serve clients in a way that is authentic to them. Starting a business, or taking any risk for that matter, is scary for many people—it’s met with fear, doubt, second-guessing, and uncertainty. But not for these advisors; I’m sure some of the emotions were and maybe are still present to some extent, but they are overshadowed by the confidence and faith in living/pursuing your authentic life. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.

“The self is not something ready-made, but something in continuous formation through choice of action.” -John Dewey Your authentic life will continually evolve. It’ll require you to evolve from the person you once were to the person you were meant to be. And then with experiences, meeting new people, and listening to your curiosity, you will discover new possibilities that you never knew existed. It’s kind of like climbing to the top of a mountain, thinking you’ve conquered your greatest...
This afternoon, I walked by an office suite that used to be the office of a woman who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer–a battle that very few in the office building knew she was facing. She elected not to do chemo or radiation, so to those of us not in the know, there was no reason to suspect she was sick. I didn’t know her very well, but every time we’d pass each other in the hallway, we’d say hello, ask how each other was doing, and then go on with our day. Each...
