creativity and your authentic life

“Creativity is a gift that is given to those of us that remain open and have the courage to step out into the unknown, leaving behind all that we believe we know.
This gift comes from a force that is far greater than us, and much bigger than our thinking minds can comprehend.”
-Brad W. Carr

Chances are you are not giving your Inner Creator enough love.

Creativity is an important part of finding and living your authentic life, yet I don’t see enough creativity being expressed in the world. As I prepare for tomorrow’s Keep Pursuing Series talk “unique gifts”, I can’t help but see the connection between creativity and the unique gifts and talents that allow us to bring something to the world no one else can do.

Your unique gifts and talents will most likely relate to something that others have gifts and talents in, but what will separate you from the others is the creativity you bring to your unique gifts and talents—without your creativity, the gifts and talents are no longer unique.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your creativity has to relate to the arts–you can express your creativity through your gifts and talents that are not a traditional form of art.

Tap into your Inner Creator.

We were all born with creativity flowing through us. Unfortunately, as we age and society becomes more involved, many of us lose our creativity and become detached from our Inner Creator. I know because I did not consciously reconnect with my Inner Creator until I was in my early 30s.

As Carr suggests, we can receive or reconnect with our creativity when we develop the courage to step into the unknown.

Stepping into the unknown is common in the pursuit of the authentic life, which shows the connection between living as your authentic Self and connecting with your Inner Creator.

“Commitment is an act, not a word.” - Jean-Paul Sartre How many things have you said you’re committed to, but your actions don’t follow? 🙋♂️ I’m guilty. When I read this quote, I immediately felt uncomfortable because there are many things I’ve committed to, but shortly after committing, I allow my actions to drift from them I’ve made these commitments with the best intentions, yet my actions don’t always match my internal thoughts and dialogues since most of these commitments are made to my...

I was editing last week’s Keep Pursuing Series talk to get it on YouTube and the podcast players, and I kept thinking about one of the “helpful hints” I shared towards the end of the talk…look to how you can serve others to begin discovering your unique gifts and talents. I’ve written about the importance of serving others and how I think all of our authentic lives include us serving others in some capacity—it could be a career, a side hustle, a volunteer, or some other way. Given that we are...
