“Your potential is not something you find. It’s something you claim. You meet it through commitment, through showing up when others hesitate, through saying yes to the things that scare you a little.
It’s about being bold enough to see what you can really do when you stop hiding behind doubt and distraction.
The truth is, the version of what you could be is already within reach. It’s just waiting for you to stop wasting time, and start acting like the person you’re capable of becoming.
This is your kick in the tail.”
-Dr. Julie Gurner
I thought to my Self, “Hmm…that’s very aligned with what I believe.” I am still going to unsubscribe (her work shows up in my LinkedIn feed, so I’ll still keep up to date with what she’s sharing) to reduce the noise in my work email–this passage wasn’t to keep me subscribed but to share with the readers of The Daily Note. It’s not just me out here sharing these messages, and the more aligned voices I can find, the greater my chances are to help others begin to consider the possibilities–or so I tell my Self this. Or maybe it’s a minor case of imposter syndrome that calms when I find validation for my thoughts and ideas in the words of others who are “bigger” than me. Who knows. But I do know that we can all always use a reminder that the authentic version of your Self is already within us, and the Authentic Life we were meant to live is right next to it. I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
I heard someone say that our perspective of life (and the world) is like looking through the opening of a straw. The visual was so strong for me. What if we were able to broaden our awareness simply by acknowledging we’re holding a straw up to our eye, deciding to drop the straw, and continuously picking up better, wider tools to look through? Maybe we can even drop all the tools and have no limitations on what we see and can be. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC
“Now I know only I can stop the rain Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh Now I know only I can stop the rain It's not that we gotta do what we do It's what we know So to me it ain't nothin' but bein' true, but Now I know only I can stop the rain It doesn't have to be the way it is, you say it is Just because for the past 20 years every day it is (what?) Now I know only I can stop the rain” -DMX, The Rain I haven’t listened to The Rain by DMX for years–probably since the year that the album it’s on was...
To become the version of your Self you are pursuing, you first have to BE that version of your Self. That may not sound possible–how can you be something you’re not yet? You have to first embody the Self you are moving towards, then you can become it. If you can’t embody, you can’t become. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC
