“Now I know only I can stop the rain
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh
Now I know only I can stop the rain
It's not that we gotta do what we do
It's what we know
So to me it ain't nothin' but bein' true, but
Now I know only I can stop the rain
It doesn't have to be the way it is, you say it is
Just because for the past 20 years every day it is (what?)
Now I know only I can stop the rain”
-DMX, The Rain
I haven’t listened to The Rain by DMX for years–probably since the year that the album it’s on was released. This morning on the drive to drop Leo off at school, it started playing in a Spotify playlist, and as soon as the beat kicked in, I immediately remembered how much I liked the song back in the day. And then DMX began rapping the first few lines, and I started listening a little more closely. I’ve bolded the lines that jump out to me, for what I believe are obvious reasons, but I’ll let you decide. Just remember…positive reinforcing messages are all around you if you’re open to receiving them. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.

You have to first embody the Self you are moving towards, then you can become it. If you can’t embody, you can’t become. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC

A few of my financial advisor friends (shoutout Sam and Nas) and I were talking about money the other day, and I shared how tired I was of seeing that, so often, the response to financial stress and insecurity is to cut expenses. Don’t get me wrong, reducing expenses and living within your means is usually a part of the solution, but it’s not the only solution. It’s one way to look at solving the problem of not having enough money–it is a good solution. Although, it’s a solution through the...
