“Each of us is born with the freedom to choose the thoughts that will direct our lives. We choose the path we want to walk down. We have the power to choose what we wish to carry along the way. With that in mind, it would seem to make good sense to choose thoughts that will form positive attitudes and that stress our unlimited potential. Negative thoughts and attitudes weigh us down; they make our journey through life so much more difficult. Every thought we allow into our mind affects the thoughts, feelings, and actions we express. If we hold negative thoughts, our actions are going to be negative, and, in turn, negative results will be returned to us. However, positive thoughts return positive results and life becomes a happy, motivating adventure in which we see ourselves and all others in the true light of what we really are. We suddenly see that each of us is a wonderful, magical, mysterious expression of life. As long as our thoughts remain positive and are grounded in accomplishing the goal in front of us, the progress we make on the path of life will be steady and rewarding.”
- Sir John Templeton, Discovering The Laws of Life (Week 33, Law D)
I hope you choose to continue down the path of positivity, opportunity, and abundance---regardless of outcomes. I’ve said this before, but Templeton was writing about the importance of spirit, mind, body, and money a long time ago—it’s still a mystery to me why no one in finance references his work, his writing never turned up outside of my reading in finance, and that I happened to stumble upon his writings on the Laws of Life. I love reading his work because it gives me more confidence I'm on to something important and meaningful. JC |
I'm on a mission to help more people find and live their authentic life. Check out my Daily Notes where I write a short note each day about the connection of spirit, mind, body and money on the Pursuit of your authentic life.
What went well for you in 2025? It drives me crazy when I see posts about how “2025 was a year (not meant positively),” and it’ll drive me crazy in February when I see posts about how 2026 feels like a year, only a couple of months in. No doubt some things did not go your way in 2025, and no doubt some things will not go your way in 2026. But why do we let these define the year? I’m sure there were far more things that went RIGHT in 2025 than went wrong, if you really paid attention. And are...
From Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act: Thoughts and habits not conducive to the work: Believing you’re not good enough Feeling you don’t have the energy it takes Mistaking adopted rules for absolute truths Not wanting to do the work (laziness) Not taking the work to its highest expression (settling) Having goals so ambitious that you can’t begin Thinking you can only do your best work in certain conditions Requiring specific tools or equipment to do the work Abandoning a project as soon as it...
"Motivation often comes after starting, not before. Action produces momentum." -James Clear Over the next week, you’ll start hearing more about people’s New Year’s resolutions, and we all know that only a small percentage will make it past the middle of February. One reason most resolutions fail is the lack of momentum at the start of the year. I don’t think you need to or should wait until January 1 to start doing something different that is going to help you move closer to your goals. But,...
