we are born with the freedom to choose our thoughts

“Each of us is born with the freedom to choose the thoughts that will direct our lives. We choose the path we want to walk down. We have the power to choose what we wish to carry along the way. With that in mind, it would seem to make good sense to choose thoughts that will form positive attitudes and that stress our unlimited potential. Negative thoughts and attitudes weigh us down; they make our journey through life so much more difficult. Every thought we allow into our mind affects the thoughts, feelings, and actions we express. If we hold negative thoughts, our actions are going to be negative, and, in turn, negative results will be returned to us. However, positive thoughts return positive results and life becomes a happy, motivating adventure in which we see ourselves and all others in the true light of what we really are. We suddenly see that each of us is a wonderful, magical, mysterious expression of life. As long as our thoughts remain positive and are grounded in accomplishing the goal in front of us, the progress we make on the path of life will be steady and rewarding.”
- Sir John Templeton, Discovering The Laws of Life (Week 33, Law D)

I felt like this was an excellent reminder for today: regardless of the outcome of today's election, you have a choice about how you receive who is in office for the next four years. Your favorite politician or party does not have to "win" for you to continue pursuing your authentic life with positive energy and results. As Sir John Templeton reminds us, you were born with the freedom to choose the thoughts that will direct your life for the next four years, and beyond.

I hope you choose to continue down the path of positivity, opportunity, and abundance---regardless of outcomes.

I’ve said this before, but Templeton was writing about the importance of spirit, mind, body, and money a long time ago—it’s still a mystery to me why no one in finance references his work, his writing never turned up outside of my reading in finance, and that I happened to stumble upon his writings on the Laws of Life. I love reading his work because it gives me more confidence I'm on to something important and meaningful.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

This is not your typical Thanksgiving Day post, but that doesn't mean I'm not thankful for you and your support of The Daily Notes! I love writing these each day, and I would continue to do so even if no one were subscribed, but the writing is more rewarding when I see people opening the emails, sharing the posts, and responding with their own comments. So on this day of giving thanks, I want to thank you for being with me on my Pursuit of my Authentic Life, which includes these Daily Notes....

“We should try by all means to be as grateful as possible. For gratitude is a good thing for ourselves, in a sense in which justice, that is commonly supposed to concern other persons, is not; gratitude returns in large measure unto itself. There is not a man who, when he has benefited his neighbour, has not benefited himself, — I do not mean for the reason that he whom you have aided will desire to aid you, or that he whom you have defended will desire to protect you, or that an example of...

I’ve had too many synchronicities in the last week not to remind you to pay attention to them, and other signs, in your life. A prime example of the most recent synchronicity is Oliver Burkeman. Last week, someone, I can’t remember who, asked me if I had read Burkeman’s most recent book, Meditation for Mortals. I hadn’t, and until then, I hadn’t heard of the book, although I was familiar with Burkeman’s Four Thousand Weeks. Naturally, I looked up the books, read a little more about Burkeman,...
