violently aligned

My friend Tyrone Ross is the most disciplined person I know.

25,000 steps, daily.

Pull-ups, kettlebells, and sprints, daily.

Clean eating, daily (except for Friday cupcakes).

Giving to those in need while on his walks, daily.

He never misses.

And every day on Instagram, he has at least one post that reminds us that he is and encourages others to be “violently disciplined.” Note: For those who do not know Tyrone, he’s not actually suggesting to BE violent; he’s just using the adjective to describe being beyond “very” disciplined.

There are areas of my life where I could be more disciplined, and Tyrone always has me thinking about them thanks to his influence. However, instead of looking to become more disciplined, or as Tyrone would put it, “violently disciplined,” I’m focusing on becoming “violently aligned.”

I’m not going to share how I’m going to become “violently aligned”--I’m not going to talk about it, but I’m going to be about it, and I truly become “violently aligned,” I won’t have to tell you about it.

You’ll see it.

You’ll feel it when you’re around me.

Interestingly, when I think about what I need to do to be “violently aligned,” I find my Self joining Tyrone as “violently disciplined.”

Alignment is not achieved without discipline.

Where are the areas that you’ve been lacking the discipline to bring your Self into better alignment with your authentic life?

Allow me to encourage you to join Tyrone and me in becoming violently disciplined and aligned — your authentic life is more than worth it.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

I’ve been wanting to write something along the lines of today’s Note for a while now. There are headlines I see all the time, especially since I’m in the world of finance, that contain some truths but also carry a negative, limiting, scarcity mindset and a controlling undertone: “Gen-Z And Millennials Can’t Afford Homes” “Why Millennials Are Facing The Scariest Financial Future Of Any Generation Since The Great Depression.” “The Data Is In: Gen Z Face A More Competitive Job Market Than Their...

“Since maintaining a healthy and sound body is among the ways of God – for it is impossible to understand or know anything about the Creator if one is sick – therefore a person must distance oneself from things which harm the body and accustom oneself to things which are healthful and help the body become stronger.” -Hilchot De’ot 4:1 I came across this passage after trying to track down the origin of this quote, “Unless we keep our bodies sound, we can not pursue the life of the soul,” which...

What’s worse, failing or staying stuck? If you’re not feeling stuck, today’s Note isn’t for you—but don’t forget it because at some point you’ll feel “stuck.” If you are feeling stuck, though, think about what you might be giving up by staying. In a recent episode of The AlignedLife Podcast, my friend Ashby Daniels shared something that has stayed with me. As he consulted with people he trusted while considering whether to exit his business, one of his friends asked if his business might not...
