making tough decisions

Today I’m going to do something I’ve never done before…hit you with two Daily Notes. This first one is for yesterday–with a two hour school delay, two amazing life planning meetings, helping my wife, Ang, move everything out of her storefront and into our house, and driving to Roman’s basketball game I didn’t get a chance to sit down and write a Note.

As I’ve watched Ang the last couple of weeks get ready for her last day with Roman & Leo (the boutique she started 12 years ago), I couldn’t help but notice the peace she’s had with everything–last day of the store being open, cleaning out the store, and seeing the storefront completely empty.

I have no doubt there is sadness within her, but since the decision to end the chapter of her life as the owner of Roman & Leo was her decision and motivated by her heart, not finances, it has allowed her to have more of a sense of closure than sadness.

By making the tough decision for her Self instead of having it made for her it became something to celebrate and enjoy, not mourn.

There will come a time in your Authentic Life where your heart will tell you it’s time to make a tough decision–listen to your heart and take control and ownership of the decision. Because if you don’t, there’s a good chance someone/something else will make it for you, which will only make it a harder decision to accept

When you are directing and creating your life, even tough decisions can feel “right” and not be negative or traumatic events.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.” -Marcus Aurelius How you receive what happens to you in life determines its impact on you; nothing is “good” or “bad” until we assign a value to it. As life unfolds, be aware of how you are receiving it and make a conscious choice on how you want it to impact you. See you tomorrow and keep pursuing, JC

What’s missing? What’s missing from your life that is keeping you from waking up each morning excited to start the day? Start looking for ways to bring whatever is missing into your life, even in small ways. If it’s meant to be a part of your life, opportunities for it to grow will begin to present themselves, but they can’t start showing up if you don’t make the first move. Don’t put your Self in the position of looking back later in life regretting that you never gave your Self a chance to...

Last week, I was asked in a podcast recording how I define authenticity. You’d think I’d have a definition ready to roll, but I didn’t. I don’t think the definition of authenticity is complicated, and I shared that I really just think it means being true to your Self, true to your values. True to your values is important. But only if you know what your Authentic Self values. I think today, more than ever, people are living by values that are not aligned with their Authentic Self. Instead,...
