lessons found through frustration

Most experiences in life that cause frustration are lessons in hiding.

Once you recognize that there is a lesson in the frustration and can identify what you’re supposed to learn, watch the frustration fade away. When you realize the “why” behind it, there’s no reason to feel frustrated anymore.

I had this experience today.

I won’t share the details of the experience, but for most of the drive down to Leo’s soccer game in southern Indiana, I was frustrated thinking about a situation back home that I wasn’t present for when it happened. I was playing out in my head things I wanted to say, actions I’d like to take, and more. I was consumed by my thoughts, frustrated, angry, and heading lower in the levels of consciousness Dr. Hawkins wrote about in The Map Of Consciousness Explained.

Eventually, I realized that the situation had happened for a couple of reasons.

The first was for one of the boys to learn and grow.
The second was for me.

My lesson was that I needed to understand that I got emotional because of my desire to protect my family. As I sat with this realization, I reminded my Self that I can’t protect the boys from everything and that they need to face adversity to learn and grow independently; I need to be there to love and support them, and maybe help them identify the lesson, but I can’t help them understand it. That’s their responsibility.

I shouldn’t have allowed my Self to get emotional because even if I had been there to say something, it would not have helped my son learn and grow. I just had to be there when he needed me to help him identify his lesson and love him.

As soon as I realized this, the frustration (and the headache I developed) began to fade.

The next time you’re feeling frustrated, take a moment and look at the experience to see what it might be trying to teach you. You’ll know if you’re learning the lesson if the frustration and other emotions begin to fade.

Life is always teaching us, and sometimes has to use emotions like frustration to get our attention.

“One day, a very interesting thing happened at the races in Florida. There was a certain dog named Clear Mary. She was a very fast greyhound, and usually won her races. But Clear Mary was also a very clever dog. One afternoon, she ran out of the starting gate with the other dogs, as usual. The rabbit hummed around the track, and the dogs sped after it. Running, running, running, running–around, around, around, around. Every day, sometimes several times a day, these dogs did the same thing,...

So tell me…What version of your Self are you living? One you chose?Or one handed down? Did you pick your path?Or just follow the signs someone else...
