don't overlook synchronicities

I’ve had too many synchronicities in the last week not to remind you to pay attention to them, and other signs, in your life.

A prime example of the most recent synchronicity is Oliver Burkeman.

Last week, someone, I can’t remember who, asked me if I had read Burkeman’s most recent book, Meditation for Mortals. I hadn’t, and until then, I hadn’t heard of the book, although I was familiar with Burkeman’s Four Thousand Weeks. Naturally, I looked up the books, read a little more about Burkeman, and decided to order those two books and one more because I wanted to see what Burkeman had to say, and also for inspiration for the books I’ll write one day. A lot of my reading today is to explore how different authors write, present their ideas in book form, and package them together, especially when writing multiple books that are semi-connected.

Sunday, the books arrive from Amazon.

Monday, I see that the guest on Rich Roll’s podcast that dropped that day was…

Oliver Burkeman.

Now, I don’t know what the synchronicity is telling me. Maybe it’s telling me I need to bump Burkeman’s book up my reading list and pay attention to the messages in the books. Or, perhaps it’s just a little wink letting me know I’m pursuing the right path.

In time, the meaning will reveal itself. But for now, I don’t need to know what it means other than that I’m on the right path and need to keep pursuing.

I want to encourage you to pay attention to the little synchronicities that show up in life and don’t dismiss them as coincidences. You don’t need to understand the synchronicities immediately, but you need to recognize them. And when you see them, take a few moments to sit with them, notice how you feel, and take note of what your heart is telling you.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

This morning, in the final minutes of my yoga class, the instructor said something that I really felt. We were ending class with shavasana, lying on our backs in stillness, and she encouraged us to practice three minutes of gratitude. “When you are in gratitude, it’s impossible for negativity to exist.” It’s true. Negativity cannot occupy your mind or body when you are practicing gratitude. This could be a great tool to use throughout the day. As soon as you notice that you are drifting into...

From time to time, I’ll use the Daily Note to highlight some of the work I’ve been doing. Today is one of those days... A few weeks ago, I started writing about money over on Substack. This week, I decided to move the AlignedLife Substack to a blog on my personal website–I’ll probably post the next few posts on both sites before exclusively writing on the AlignedLife Blog.I have also been recording video readings of the AlignedLife Blog with some additional context; here are the first couple:...
