do it because you want to

Today, I welcomed my youngest son, Silas, to join me for an episode of the AlignedLife podcast. I asked him to join me to talk about his creativity and to remind the adult listeners and viewers of the show that we were all like Silas at one point in our lives.

We all created.
We all created what we wanted.
We followed our interests.
We stopped doing what lost our interest.

Having Silas join me for a podcast episode probably won't land AlignedLife at the top of Apple Podcasts, but that’s okay with me—that wasn’t the goal.

I had Silas on because I wanted to.

I thought it would be a fun conversation to document.
I thought it would make him feel special.
I thought it would be something he’d remember.

I can’t wait to edit the episode this week and publish it on YouTube and all of the podcast players.
I can’t wait to make some Shorts for him to put on his YouTube channel.
I can’t wait to see his smile when we watch the episode on our TV.

Hopefully the world will enjoy the episode and take a little inspiration from Silas.

Regardless of how many people watch or listen, the episode is a massive success because it was what I wanted to do—and Silas had fun.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about their living relatives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have one often don’t appreciate it. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the satiated complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always...

I hope you had a great weekend; if you're here in the States (so cool that this is an international publication now) I hope you had a safe and family-filled Fourth of July holiday weekend. Ours was very low-key. Tons of time in the pool. World Cup on the TV or iPad to watch outside.Cooking out.And sadly, the boys were off doing their own things — Leo at Indiana University for soccer camp, Roman hanging out with his friends, and Silas even bailed on us for a few hours on the Fourth to be with...

I have a pretty extensive library of books—more books than I care to admit. The majority of the books are “business” books, and very few would be considered pleasure reading. I mean, I enjoy reading them, but most people don’t find finance, spirituality, mindset, religion, and other books that have helped me develop my understanding of the Authentic Life. I wanted to start a book that was purely for pleasure this holiday weekend. There wasn’t anything in my library that fit what I was looking...
