creativity: the unofficial fifth part of the alignment equation

Creativity has been the unofficial fifth component of the important alignment in pursuing your authentic life: spirit, mind, body, and money AND creativity.

I’ve talked about the importance of expressing your creativity, connecting to your Inner Creator (which we all have in us), and most recently, connecting how our creativity is part of what makes us unique compared to the rest of the world since the early days of these Daily Notes. In fact, the only personal restriction I’ve put on the Daily Notes is that they have to relate to the authentic life, spirit, mind, body, money, and creativity–it’s always been an important part of what we should be focusing on in our lives.

After last week’s Keep Pursuing talk about our unique gifts and talents, I anticipate creativity becoming a more common topic in the Daily Notes and other content I create–it’s not going to be the primary focus, but I don’t think I’ve given enough attention to how creativity can help you live a life more aligned with your authentic Self.

One reason I want you to think more about your creativity is highlighted by this quote from Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act,

“If you have an idea you’re excited about and you don’t bring it to life, it’s not uncommon for the idea to find its voice through another maker. This isn’t because the other artist stole your idea, but because the idea’s time has come.”

If you’re not used to tapping into your creativity, you might miss out on bringing an idea to life (not always a business idea) that could change your life.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

An important part of moving toward your authentic life and then evolving with it is letting go of what no longer serves you. Surrendering. It’s not easy, but it’s so important. So, what in your life is no longer servicing you? For me: Saying yes to everything. Being too selfless (leads to a few of these other points). Trying to hold onto friendships from the past that are no longer equal exchange of energy. Despite my confidence and optimism, self-limiting thoughts around the impact I can...

“Commitment is an act, not a word.” - Jean-Paul Sartre How many things have you said you’re committed to, but your actions don’t follow? 🙋♂️ I’m guilty. When I read this quote, I immediately felt uncomfortable because there are many things I’ve committed to, but shortly after committing, I allow my actions to drift from them I’ve made these commitments with the best intentions, yet my actions don’t always match my internal thoughts and dialogues since most of these commitments are made to my...
