consider their story

If there are people in your life trying to keep you from pursuing your authentic life, taking control of your life, and following the signs from the Divine that are guiding you towards the version of your Self you were meant to be, consider their story.

You may not know the truth of their story, but it is very possible they are unintentionally projecting their fears onto you.

Sometimes people just don’t want you to succeed–a reflection of their unhappiness.

Sometimes people just don’t want you to fail–it may seem like they care or even love you and want you to avoid the “pain” of failure, but really, it’s the fear they have of pursuing their authentic life being placed onto you.

It may hurt to have someone you care about not support your Pursuit. But, if you are living an aligned life, following your heart and intuition, and know where you are heading is where you are supposed to be going, then while it is nice to have the support of others, it is not necessary. All of the support you need should already exist within you.

Rather than being upset with others, consider their story–their Pursuits–and realize they may not have had the courage to follow their hearts and carry the same fear for you. Their lack of support may be coming from a good place, but just misguided.

Or, they could be so unhappy that they don’t want you to escape their misery–I think this is the minority of the situations you will encounter.

One important thing to consider: Your Pursuit will be full of twists, turns, and pivots. Do not immediately dismiss the arguments from those trying to keep you from pursuing the path you are heading down. We all have shadows, and their concerns may be helping you see a shadow that needs to be addressed as you continue on your Pursuit. Take time to sit with their concerns, reflect on them, notice how you feel, and be honest with your Self. Once you know whether there is some truth in their concerns or they are merely projections onto you, you’ll know what to do next. The important thing to remember is sometimes the concerns of others will be valid and necessary for you to address, and sometimes they will be distractions–I never promised your Pursuit and living your authentic life would be easy.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC

I was reminded of a conversation I had a couple of weeks ago, which centered around the question, “Who are you?” Not, what do you do? Not, what do you like? Not, who were you? But who are YOU? For most of us, the answer requires more time and reflection than we usually give it. Whatever answer you just thought of is probably only partially correct. Too often, we define who we are by the influences of others, what we think others want us to be, and keep who we are to our Selves. We can work on...

For the readers here in the States, I hope you find time to rest, relax, and recharge on this Memorial Day. I hope you get to rest, relax, and recharge for your Self–take advantage of the day that most of us get off from our professional responsibilities and slow down a bit, spend time with loved ones, and appreciate all of the good in your life. While you are resting, relaxing, and recharging, be sure to find a moment to sit in gratitude for all of those in the service, past and present, who...

I hope you had a great week and are having an even better holiday weekend! I came across a cool new project by Rick Rubin that I had to share first. In The Way of Code, Rick takes on Lao Tzu, who has been quoted many times in The Daily Notes, and does so in a very cool and creative way. This "book" is online, and while I usually like physical books, the interactive visuals make this online book a unique experience in addition to a good read. A Substack called AlignedLife I recently launched a...
